A historic event
The Canadian round of the Formula 1 World Championship, held in Montreal since 1978, is a must-see international event synonymous with celebration and with the start of Montreal's summer season. For three days, Montreal takes on the colours of the prestigious racing teams and vibrates to the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd from all over the world, come to cheer on the best drivers on the planet. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, named after the famous Canadian driver who won the first edition and died tragically in 1982, is located on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean-Drapeau, in the middle of the majestic St. Lawrence River. This exhilarating, spectacular race is a must-see international event.
At the wheel of their cars, F1 drivers cover the 4,361-metre circuit in under 1 minute 15 seconds, reaching speeds of over 300 km/h on the straights. With its 14 tight, brake-intensive corners, the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve favours overtaking – and driving errors. The roar of the engines and the cheers of the crowd on each of the 70 laps create a unique atmosphere. The Grand Prix also features support races – the Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Challenge and Formula 1600 – which also promise their share of thrills.
And since there's nothing like experiencing it yourself, the Grand Prix offers interactive activities that are well worth a visit. Get behind the wheel of a racing simulator, take part in a Formula 1 tyre-changing contest, or compare your fitness and reflexes with those of an F1 driver. The Grand Prix also means themed terraces to take a break and cool off, official merchandise stands, a Beach zone with games, DJs and a terrace bar, and even a family zone. In short: thrills and a whirlwind of activities and challenges!

At the request of the promoter of Montreal's biggest summer event, fans could admire customised artworks around the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and, with the purchase of the official souvenir programme, receive a limited-edition poster produced exclusively by the artist for the programme.
